I got into integrative psychiatry because when I was doing my training, we’d often get all these patients that were continuing to be sick. I would ask my attendings, “What do we do now?” And they’d say, “Listen, we just have to get used to maintaining them while they’re sick and supporting them while they’re sick.”
I was like, “This cannot be the only solution.” So I decided to go learn for myself and see if there was another way to approach that.
Integrative psychiatry is the intersection between traditional medicine, conventional psychiatry, and holistic care. We’re pulling things from the past, we’re pulling things from the future, and trying to find a solution for whatever you’re struggling with in your mental health.
Integrative psychiatry is not just your conventional plug-and-chug treatment that you may get at any other office. We’re looking at innovative new approaches to get to the root causes and find something that fits specifically for you.
My clinic is about offering many different paths to get to the health that you’re looking for. We are looking at every solution available to us that exists, even those that may not be considered standard.
One of the major things is that we first have to understand what the problem is. Our evaluation time is two to three times longer than a standard clinic. Patients are often feeling good at that point, but it’s not just about that. It’s about health optimization because the psychiatric piece of health—where your mind feels good—is really a reflection of whether the body is aligned and healthy as well.
Aligning with design means looking at how you were made. Let’s figure that out, and then let’s figure out how to put it back.
The patients who do well in my clinic are really committed to becoming the best version of themselves. They understand that the body is best at healing itself, and our job is to help put it back into alignment.
When I went to medical school, I was very tied to the idea that we were going to be healing people and helping them get well. And in the way that we’re practicing medicine in my clinic, that’s happening.

You’re Not Underperforming. You’re Under-Evaluated.
You’ve been prescribed medications. You’ve done therapy. Not crisis level. Not falling apart. But cognitively dulled. Functioning at 70% when you know your system supports more.
Here’s what most psychiatry misses: medication without biological & spiritual context is compensation, not correction. Standard 15-minute med checks do not assess thyroid function, nutrient status, inflammatory load, or hormonal disruption.
That’s not a limitation of psychiatry. That’s a limitation of how most psychiatry is practiced.

What they say
Meet the Psychiatrist Behind Source Psychiatry™
Hello, I’m Dr. Williams. If you’ve been feeling anxious, foggy, or not quite like yourself, here’s what I see: the gap between how you look on paper and how you actually feel is real, and it’s diagnosable.
I’m a board-certified psychiatrist who works with people who are often doing everything right but still don’t feel well. My work focuses on what’s happening beneath the surface, from hormone shifts and gut health to past stress your body is still holding onto.
I keep my practice small so I can actually get to know you. We’ll examine what’s going on together and find thoughtful, specific ways to help you feel better.
About Dr. Lauren Williams
I built this practice because I was tired of watching brilliant, capable people get reduced to a list of symptoms and a rushed prescription.
Too many people, especially the ones who “keep it all together,” were slipping through the cracks of a system that rushes, numbs, and oversimplifies. I wanted to offer something different.
What I practice now is Source Psychiatry™. It’s my own framework for combining integrative, holistic, and functional psychiatry into a single evaluation instead of picking one lane. I trained in integrative psychiatry. The work has moved further into the functional side since then, and that’s reflected in how evaluations and care are structured here now.
This clinic was built for those who are burned out, anxious, or feeling off, but know in their gut that masking symptoms isn’t the answer. I work with a small group of clients one-on-one, using tools from psychiatry, functional medicine, energy work, and trauma healing.
If you’re ready to understand what your body’s been trying to say, welcome. I’m glad this work found you.

Source Psychiatry™: Frequently Asked Questions
What is Source Psychiatry™?
Source Psychiatry™ is the framework I built by combining integrative, holistic, and functional psychiatry into one evaluation, rather than treating them as three separate philosophies. I trained as an integrative psychiatrist, and the work has moved further into the functional model over time: more lab work, more root-cause investigation. The goal isn’t just symptom control. It’s correcting what’s actually misaligned, so the mind and body move toward health, not just stability. Source Psychiatry™ is the standard I practice under at my clinic, Dr. Lauren Williams. It’s not a separate business.
What does Source Psychiatry™ evaluation involve?
A comprehensive workup, two to three times longer than a standard psychiatric intake. Clinical history, sleep, nutrition, stress load, trauma history, and hormonal and metabolic factors are all part of the picture. Treatment may include psychiatric medication when indicated, functional testing, nutritional intervention, trauma-informed therapy, and lifestyle restructuring. Medication is one tool, not the whole plan.
How is this different from standard psychiatric care?
Most psychiatry treats the visible symptom. Source Psychiatry™ asks what’s underneath it, things like inflammation, hormone dysregulation, nutrient deficiency, unresolved trauma, and treats that. It’s built for adults whose symptoms haven’t resolved through conventional, surface-level care, not for routine diagnosis or brief medication management.
What's included in a Source Psychiatry™ treatment plan?
It’s built from your full clinical picture, not a single diagnostic code. Depending on what the evaluation finds, a plan may include psychiatric medication, targeted nutrient repletion, hormone and metabolic workup, gut and inflammation assessment, trauma-focused therapy, nervous system regulation, and structured lifestyle change. The goal is resolution, not symptom suppression.

you again?
Mental clarity isn’t indulgence. It’s infrastructure. This practice stays small so the work stays deep. That’s by design.
